THE POND

The pond at Casa Archilei is artificial and was built in 1989. 

If you look at the pond you will see a special leaf that floats on the water.

This plant is called “water lily”.

Another interesting plant is the Pussy-Willow.

In our pond there are lots of animals that live in the water like frogs, toads, Japanese Koi fish and two turtles.

These animals spend all of their life in the water.

In Casa Archilei you can learn about the life cycle of the animals that live in the pond.

Tadpoles are collected and kept for observation in jars or in mini-ponds.

Other interesting animals live around the pond: beautiful red dragonflies and many other insects.
