Sister Gardens
Our ‘Sister Gardens’ project initiative
provides an opportunity for young people, from all over the world, to meet
together, on-line, with a common language (English) and a common goal
(saving our planet).
You don’t have to have a garden to join.
But maybe it will inspire you to start one with fellow students, neighbours
and/or family and friends. |
 |
The question is: how can we, as
individuals and small groups of students help?
By cultivating respect and understanding
for all living things in your own country and abroad. |
The subjects in our
weblog are as vast as the cultures
represented.
Examples: |
|
 |
Gardening and cooking tips. |

|
Basic Social/cultural/geographical information
exchange |

|
Cultural practices in your own particular country that help/harm the
environment |

|
Recycling practices where you live. |
We have a motto at Green English:
One cannot respect the environment without
first respecting all other human beings on the earth. The secret to
achieving this respect is through communication.
This way we may clarify misunderstandings and broaden our
points of view. |
We have broken down the
forum in distinct categories: |
Observations |
Comments |
Questions |
On the subject line of your post
we ask you to state the category and subject matter of your contents.
Examples: |
Observations:
tin aluminium recycling
The contents could read:
I live in the Italian Province of Pesaro/Urbino
and can never find a bin to recycle tin and aluminium.
Maybe this would inspire a group of
students to formally petition the agency responsible to supply the required
bins. |
Comments:
Maori in New Zealand
The contents could read:
I’d like to learn more about the Maori
practice of sticking out their tongues and making strange noises during
special ceremonies.
You see, what is thought as acceptable in
one culture might not be in another. But there is always an explanation and
we hope to air it here.
|
Questions:
tetra packs
The contents could read:
Why is it that here in Italy they
advertise on TV that Tetra Packs are recyclable but the ASET here in the
provincia of Pesaro/Urbino will not accept them? |
A good question isn’t it?
Our goal is to have representation from
all continents and corners of the world. You are free to ask any question
or make any comment you wish. All postings will be screened and eventually
we hope to create an actual list where the communications come directly to
your in-box. |
