Each student
should bring: pencil, rubber, scissors, glue, felt tip pens and a
small
flower pot.
The
kitchen garden unit helps build vocabulary related to vegetables and gardening
with an emphasis on the word ‘organic’. The students are given a tour of the
gardens with discussion relating to the vegetables found there. We stress the
importance of recycling organic wastes for compost and produce without the uses
of pesticides. The worksheet describes the process of planting a seed
and the plant cycle. The
activity includes planting seeds with reinforcement after.
