The Country House
|
2° ciclo scuola elementare and scuola media.
Each student
should bring: pencil, rubber, scissors, glue and felt tip pens .
|

|
The country house unit helps build vocabulary relating to the home and
office environment. The students are offered a tour of the inside of Casa
Archilei, which at one time was a farm house, and presently houses a
classroom, museum, library, office and kitchen, with a well and workshop
outside. On the tour we discuss the various items found in these rooms. For
the morning’s project, the students create their own ‘blueprint’ of a chosen
room with poster board and coloured construction paper. |

|
The children are introduced to
the entire site including the house and gardens.
The students are
given a worksheet and tick the objects they find around the house.
Here, we are about to
enter the workshop.
What can you see? |
Can you see an elephant in the workshop?
Can you see a hammer?
Older students will be encouraged to compare the country house to their own
homes.
What
is different? What is similar?

 |
And what's in the well?
Is it
chocolate, is it coffee, or is it .... water? |
What goes up
the chimney? Smoke. And who comes down?
Father Christmas of course! |
